The South African Police Service is this morning gathered at KwaMashu L Section Community Hall to bid final farewell to Warrant Officer Sthembiso Mazibuko.. The 40-year-old National Intervention Unit (NIU) member, was shot and killed during the tracing of a wanted suspect who had been terrorising the community of Ntuzuma. The suspect had allegedly shot and killed 12 victims in two weeks. Police Minister, General Bheki Cele delivered the eulogy at the funeral service where he was reflecting on police safety and the scourge of police killings in the country.

During the parliamentary session, EFF MP Mzwanele Manyi referred to ANC MPs as "thugs" while discussing the appointment of the incoming public protector Kholeka Gcaleka.
Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula immediately called Manyi to order, asking him to withdraw the statement. However, Manyi refused, stating that his conscience doesn't allow him to retract his comments.
In response, the Speaker ordered Manyi to leave the house, further escalating the tension in the already heated session.

The EFF leader, Julius Malema was at the East London Regional Court this morning for his ongoing trial on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and three counts of contravening the Firearms Control Act. He is accused of allegedly discharging a firearm at the EFF 5th Anniversary Celebrations.
🔴BREAKING NEWS🔴 Judge Twanet Olivier has denied EFF leader Julius Malema's application for discharge in terms of 174 of act 51 of 1997. The trial will proceed as planned, as the judge stated, "A mere say so that it was a movie gun does not make it so; it's not evidence. In light of the evidence presented so far."
